My May // Motivation

may 1st quote

This month is going to be all about you. Each week you will get a quote that will motivate you to be the best you. This week’s quote is from Dr. Steve Maraboli. This quote is is about finding the greatest you. We all want to be successful in life and live a life full of joy and happiness today is the day that you will begin your journey to your greatest self. It will not be an easy journey but it will be one that you will never forget. How do you become your greatest self? How do you start this journey? Get out your notebook and pencil because you are going to need it. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Know Yourself

Before you can be the best you, you must know who you are. When you learn to know who you really are that’s when you can really see your potential. I don’t mean know your favorite color or your favorite type of music; I want you to really get to know yourself, what makes you tick, what makes you genuinely happy. The best way to know yourself is to see how people perceive you? Ask your friends, family member, and even co-workers to describe you in three words. Do you agree with what they are saying; would you describe yourself with the same words? What are you most grateful for; the things that come to your mind first reflect who you are so if family, work, and God were the first things then I think that is a great start. We often forget about the small things in life that make us happy, these are the things that motivate us to do better and help you on your journey to your best self.

These next question to ask yourself is going to get a little deeper so put on your thinking hat. Look at yourself today and then look at yourself 5 years ago, are you a better person? If your answer is no then think about you then and now, and tell yourself why you aren’t a better person and what you can do starting today to be a better person. If you could choose anyone, it could be more than one person in your life to vanish forever who would it be? Think about this question, now if you say someone who is in your inner circle then you are doing it all wrong. You need to be hanging around people who will motivate you and people you trust. The people you are with on a day-to-day basis are the ones who will have the most influence on you and your actions. Yes, that means you need to let go of that friend that who always saying those slick comments and bringing you down. I had one of those friends and she is no longer in my life and I have seen a tremendous change.

Know What You Want

Now you know who you are and you really examine the people around you, and you have evaluated what you need to change in your life it’s time for the next step. What do you want out of life? Do you want to climb the corporate ladder, do you want to have your own business, do you want to be a stay-at-home mom, do you to get married, do you want to get a college degree, I can go on and on. Only you know what you really want! The best way to keep your eyes on the prize is to write it down. I am currently in the process of creating a vision board. For those of you who don’t know what a vision board is, it is a board that you create that displays all your dreams, goals, and aspirations. I feel that everyone should make a vision board whether you are 12 or 24, this gives you your daily inspiration, it shows you what you are working for every day.

Some of us may not know what we want in life. If this is you then before you decide what you want in life you have to decide how you feel about your life currently. How is your family life, how is your work life, how is your personal life, now think about your answers. Once you have done that think about how you want those different parts of your life to be in the next few years? Whatever that answer is, write it down because that is where we want to be at the end of this journey. Can I tell you a little secret before I continue; you will never reach a point in which you can’t improve your life so this journey to your best self never really ends.

Know How To Get There

So you know who you are, you know what you want, now you need to figure out how to get there. Before we even get into that be sure you write down what you want and where you have to be once you have reached your greatest self. This needs to be as detailed as possible because in order to get there you must be able to identify where you want to be in its entirety. It’s going to be hard work to get where you want. Now write down everything that you need  to do, and I mean everything. This is going to be your blueprint in your journey. If you need to wash the dishes more, spend more time with your kids, take work more seriously, or even spice up your love life. Whatever it may be no matter how small or large it is be sure to write it down because it is all important. If you are writing this stuff down, please take it seriously and take the necessary steps to get where you want to be in life.

If you made it this far then I have no doubt that you will be able to get where you want in life. Take this seriously I put this together for you because I do care about your happiness.
