What is networking?
Networking is when you interact with other people to exchange information and develop contacts, especially to further one’s career.
This definition itself explains why networking is important. When trying to build a career it is important that you know the right people in order to advance. When you network you are introducing yourself to a world of opportunities. It is important that you get out of your comfort zone and speak to people about your goals and interest. You will interact with people that you can work with or learn from in some way. It is important that you get some business cards; I got mine from vistaprint.com
A few tips when networking:
1. Ask easy question
2. Don’t try to pitch your idea just be natural
3.Smile
4. Be sure to follow-up with the person/people who you spoke with
5. Have a business card
